Lecture Notice

Dear All,

Mr. Suman Tewary, Scientist, CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh will be delivering a talk on the topic Data Analysis and Instrumentation: Opportunities and future prospects on December 6th, 2021 (Monday), from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lecture Hall, CSIR-NML. You are cordially invited to attend the lecture.

The abstract of the lecture is as below:

Abstract: With the rise of the digital world, all the sensors and instruments used in scientific and industrial research are becoming the source of enormous data in the form of image, signal, and temporal information. Instrumentation as a measurement science has played a pivotal role in developing devices to acquire such data. Extraction of relevant information from this data has become essential to get a meaningful inference. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning are combined into the domain of data science, with the support of programming and domain knowledge, to provide automated and augmented analysis. These tools can assist us in scientific exploration in the form of automation by reducing manual interventions which also reduces inter-observer variability. Under Industry 4.0, the components of big data, cloud computing, and the connected sensors through Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) are providing the ideal platform for the growth of data science.

This lecture is focused on making researchers aware of the use of different tools in the domain of data analysis and instrumentation. Some of the case studies for automation with the help of image processing, machine learning, deep learning will be presented. The opportunities and future prospects of data analysis in scientific and industrial research will be discussed.

With Best Regards,
