Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to draw your kind attention towards SERB’s new and innovative Scheme on CRG (Exponential Technologies). We are looking to fund initiatives of the kind that have spawned path-breaking ideas across the world such as AI, augmented / virtual reality, smart mobility, 6G/7G communication, full genome sequencing, embedded sensors for structural life assessment, quantum computing, 3D printing for bio-organs, synthetic biology, solutions for climate change, digital chemical synthesis, extreme materials, aquaporin membranes, synthetic meat, hydrate desalination, science for a circular economy, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, systems biology, smart drug delivery systems, etc. The list above is intended to be representative, not exhaustive.
The proposals may lead to everything from the creation of new knowledge, new bridges between various scientific and engineering concepts to technologies that cut across multiple disciplines. We are looking at cutting edge research as well as research that has potential for social transformation.
A successful proposal to SERB-Exponential Technologies will chart a new way of thinking, new way of linking fields with a goal in mind which might be either scientific or technological. It will be risky but plausible and we at SERB accept that many such ideas will, despite the best effort, not see the light of day. It will create and exploit synergy amongst a group of investigators, each with their skill set, preferably located at multiple institutions, all working towards a common out-of-the-box objective. There is no budgetary limit but SERB will follow its internal norms on the levels of scrutiny and approval. Industry participation is welcomed, if appropriate, but not required.
We are planning to open a special call for CRG (Exponential Technologies) in the third week of November 2021. I solicit your valuable support to circulate this information to all those concerned in your organization and motivate them to apply under this special call.
With best regards,
