Interested and eligible Scientists may send their names through their HOD/Unit Head to HRG to be put up to the Standing Award Committee (SAC). HODs/Unit Heads may also directly suggest name(s) to SAC that they deem fit for nomination. All such suggestions must reach HRG (shiva@nmlindia.org) on or before 22 Dec 2021.

Dear Dr Chattoraj,

As you are aware the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) introduced a scheme of 'CSIR Young Scientist Awards' in 1987 for promoting excellence in science & technology among young scientists in CSIR system. These awards are given annually in the fields i) Biological Sciences, ii) Chemical Sciences, iii) Earth-Atmosphere-Ocean-Planetary Sciences, iv) Engineering Sciences v) Physical Sciences (including instrumentation) for outstanding contribution made by the young CSIR scientists on the basis of research work done primarily in India during the last five years preceding the year of the award. Each scientist, selected for the CSIR Young Scientist Award, is given a citation, a cash award of Rs 50,000/- and a plaque on 26th September, the CSIR Foundation Day.

Nominations are hereby invited for CSIR Young Scientist Awards for the year 2022 from Directors of CSIR laboratories, Chairperson of Research Councils of CSIR laboratories and from Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardees working in CSIR laboratories. The number of nominations should normally be maximum of two in each discipline. A person nominated for the YS Award must be a regular Scientist (as per CSRAP Rules) of CSIR system and he/she should have joined CSIR laboratory on or prior to 26th September 2021. The age of the nominee must not be more than 35 years as on 26th September 2021. The details of the award and the prescribed proforma for nomination may be downloaded from the website www.csirhrdg.res.in

We shall appreciate receiving nomination(s) in respect of scientist(s) who, in your opinion, deserve to be considered for the award. I shall be grateful if you could kindly make the nomination papers available to us by email at ssb@csirhrdg.res.in on or before 31st January 2022.
